In the days and weeks leading up to the Global Siddha Yoga Shaktipat Intensive, here are the recommended ways to prepare:
PREPARATION SATSANG
Participate in the Shaktipat Intensive Preparation Satsang at a location near
you or via webcast on the Siddha Yoga website.
STUDY
Study Gurumayi and Baba’s teachings about shaktipat and the Intensive.
Take time to write about your insights and your understanding in your journal. Some suggested sources for study are:
- Play of Consciousness by Baba Muktananda, part 2, chapter 1 (available in English, Hindi & Gujarati language)
- What Is an Intensive? by Baba Muktananda (in English language only)
- From the Finite to the Infiniteby Baba Muktananda, chapter 3 (in English language only)
- Experience the POWER within. Kundalini Shakti,a talk by Gurumayi Chidvilasananda (Audio Cds & DVDs in English & VCDs in Hindi)
PRACTICE
- Meditate each day leading up to the Shaktipat Intensive. At least once a week, make time to meditate for an extended period. Record any experiences or insights in your journal.
- Practice japa, repetition of the mantra Om Namah Shivaya, each day leading up to the Intensive. You can set aside 10 minutes a day for this practice.
OTHER PREPARATION
- Take a 15- to 20-minute walk each day. This will support your posture and breathing. You can also combine this with your practice of japa.
- Practice hatha yoga or do other exercise that supports physical strength and flexibility so that you’re able to sit comfortably for an extended period of time.
AFTER THE SHAKTIPAT INTENSIVE
In the days after the Shaktipat Intensive, schedule some quiet time for
reflection, journaling, and meditation. This will support you to further assimilate what you’ve experienced and learned during the Intensive.
